Euro section visit Packetis company

The English Euro Section in Economics had the chance to visit MMPacketis company in l’Isle d’Espagnac, two weeks ago.

Thanks to Mr Savary, Hygiene, Security and Environment manager and his assistant Mrs Braconnais, who welcomed us, we learnt a lot about how the factory works and we observed the production line of leaflets for pharmaceuticals.

Indeed MMPacketis is part of an Austrian group specialised in pulp and paper of all kinds and operates forty-nine factories in Europe, Asia, and America.

MM Packetis is a subsidary making leaflets, pharmaceutical and cosmetics folding boxes.

The packaging manufacturing company MM Packetis also has a specific branch, MMP Premium, dedicated to high quality packaging for luxury brands such as Dior or Yves St Laurent. The company wants to be the best on the packaging market for pharmaceuticals.

In terms of company organisation, Packetis defends the idea of a flat hierarchy and it promotes autonomy and lean management to achieve efficiency and high quality production.  Teamwork and development of everyone’s skills is key to the human resources management of the company.

During our visit we had to keep our hair tied and to wear security shoes and protective clothing, as you can see on the pictures.Security is essential, both to comply with regulations and to ensure employees’ well-being at work, as much as possible.

Mr Savary explained to us that they had to comply with strict environmental regulations. They try to recycle what they use as much as they can and they are going to cooperate with a bee keeper to install hives on the production site in order to contribute to the biodiversity of the area.

This visit was really very interesting and we are grateful for visiting this production site which usally does not accept visitors for safety reasons.
