Au menu : fish and chips 100% British puis découverte, en anglais, de l’entreprise BioMar
For lunch, we discovered a fish and chips restaurant in Dirac, it is run by a British and his wife who welcomed us very well. It was so delicious and the place was cute. After that, we went to the BioMar company to learn how the company works and how they produce fish feed. After an interesting presentation of this firm in English, we visited the factory. Most of the production is automated. We could speak to employees who explained to us how to manage robots. During the visit, we were wearing beautiful yellow overalls, helmets and security shoes to protect us. This experience was enriching, we learnt a lot of things about the firm’s world. The afternoon we spent together was focused on the theme of fish.
Indeed, after having had lunch in a delicious Fish and Chips restaurant, we went to visit the BioMar company, which produces feed for fish.
It was an opportunity for us to discover a sector we did not know.
The production and logistics manager showed us the whole conception and production process. Then, the quality control manager explained to us the importance of lab controls, to prevent the company from problems linked to food processing. Sustainability is at the heart of their job since they try to use as many eco-friendly raw materials as possible.
It was very interesting to learn new things about a sector which is increasing very fast.

We visited BioMar, a company which produces feed for fish. BioMar is located in Nersac .
They have plants all around the world: for example, they produce feed for salmon, trout, in Norway, UK and Chile .
Their fish feed is made for sea bass, beam and eel in continental Europe but they also produce feed for shrimp, tilapia and other warm water species in central and south America.
Their approach is to optimize sustainability, to use sustainable raw materials and to run management systems and legal compliance.
They are one of the leading suppliers of high performance fish feed to the aquaculture. They are 100 % dedicated to development and production of high performance fish food.
The parent company was founded in Denmark in 1992: they were a cooperative and wanted to make their own fish food. The name Biomar appeared in 1994. The company in Nersac is a subsidiary of the parent company in Denmark.
